Northern Star’s founder and executive editor is a veteran business and healthcare writer who’s worked for a range of publications, both on staff and as a freelancer, since 1984. As a reporter for both the Kansas City Business Journal and Washington D.C. Business Journal, Menninger covered agribusiness, technology, healthcare, insurance, public companies and government contracting. He has covered general business, healthcare and technology issues for numerous online and print publications, and also produces marketing materials, including white papers, case studies and press releases, for a variety of healthcare, service and technology companies. A three-time Pulitzer Prize nominee, Menninger is the author of two books: Mortal Error, an evidence-based study of the Kennedy assassination, published by St. Martin’s Press in 1992; and And Hell Followed With It, an account of one of the most destructive tornadoes in U.S. history, published by Greenleaf Book Group in 2010.

Karen Alexander

Our senior editor and medical copywriter has more than 20 years of experience editing and writing for a variety of publications, including magazines, annual reports, proposals and grants, white papers, nonfiction books and website content. She specializes in copy editing marketing materials as well as technical content. Alexander always provides the client with thoroughly edited copy that is clear, accurate and consistent with style guide requirements. As Senior Technical Writer/Editor for Midwest Research Institute, she wrote and edited a variety of documents, such as technical reports, proposals/grants, journal articles, public relations documents and brochures for project research and development activities and corporate operations.
